Swine flu tackling and elimination !!

Its time that the Private hospitals in the city too are joining the fight against swine flu to tackle the increasing number of H1N1 virus cases. The Health Department in the state took this decision to make it easier for patients to seek treatment.
Currently, private hospitals refer suspected cases to designated government hospitals. Once the new directive comes into effect, private hospitals will be allowed to treat swine flu patients.
But experts warn that such a move alone will not be enough to keep this fever at bay as not all hospitals in the city are equipped to handle an epidemic.
Though a good number of them can provide isolation wards they might not meet the specifications scripted by the Union Health Ministry.
As per the directive, the wards to quarantine patients will have to be separated from the main premises. And they should have a completely separate outpatient department and be excluded from the central air-conditioning system.
In the isolation wards beds should be 6 ft apart.
Private sector can provide additional infrastructure but there are many hurdles ahead. Though almost all private hospitals have a minimum of one or two ventilators, the specifications for the isolation ward can be a stumbling block for many.
“We really need to quarantine patients as this is a highly contagious disease.
Almost all private hospitals can treat one or two patients, but if it blows out to be an epidemic, the scene may worsen,” says Dr S Sachidananda Kamath, president of Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Kochi.
And the availability of trained paramedical staff is another problem for these institutions. Currently, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences is the only private hospital in the city that has been approved by the Health Department as a designated hospital to treat swine flu cases.
“What we need is a good coordination with the government network to follow up cases and speed up the treatment process,” says Dr Philip Augustine, managing director of Lakeshore Hospital.
“The majority of hospitals in the city can help with the treatment of swine flu patients but the government will have to ensure testing facilities,” he says.
The government will have to supply Tamiflu tablets for the treatment as they are not available in the market.

swine flu in india !!

Swine flu slowly entered India via airports ..yes thats airborn disease  and now its spreading all over the country and started to take lifes. The Swine flu was not considered as a massive pandemic disease till it started to take lifes .. thats the Indian attitude.

Now once the swine flu had taken few lifes everyone started to panic and started to take precaution steps ..unfortunenatly its late and already the flu spreaded all over the country ..and  hundreds and hundreds of swine flu suspects found and few confirmed.

As the swine flu test takes atlease 24 hours of time ,the people who has given samples to test are in panic .Mainly in pune the swine flu has spreaded in that way most schools and public places have been shut down as pune becomes the first place to lose a life for swine flu -a 14 year old girl is the victim.

Shockingly the few doctors who take care of the swine flu tests have been tested positive which shows that the precautionary steps are not adequate enough .

A three layered medical mask is the only way to protect from this air born disease , which should be used in public places  where people cough and sneeze near us .

Always be clean and dont hang out with swine flu suspects../ and dont share the same water bottle with one who has any flu like symptoms
